             Concluding Remarks

At the 2001 Congress, the IOTS established the Targum Edition Exploratory Committee (TEEC) to explore the feasibility of a project to create text editions for all the rabbinic-era targumim and to draw up a plan for such a project. The TEEC will submit its report and recommendations to the 2004 Congress. All participants should receive a copy of the report at registration. The Thursday evening business meeting will be devoted to a debate and vote concerning it. The IOTS (i.e., all members present) will decide whether or not to adopt the committee"s recommendation and to pursue their implementation. Please plan to be present for this important discussion and decision.

The International Organization for Targumic Studies would like to thank the International Organization for the Study of the Old Testament for allowing us to meet in conjunction with them.  We would also like to thank Dr. Konrad Jenner, Congress Secretary, and the Leiden Organizing Committee for all the hard work they put in to make the arrangements for our meetings.  Finally, we would like to congratulate Professor Arie van der Kooij on his election to the Presidency of the IOSOT and to express our appreciation to him for his welcoming remarks.
