The second meeting of the International Organization for Targumic Study was held in conjunction with the XVI Congress of the International Organization for the Study of the Old Testament in Oslo, Norway on July 30-31, 1998.

The Journal for the Aramaic Bible is moving closer to publication. The Chair of the Executive Editorial Committee, Johannes de Moor, has signed a three-year contract with Sheffield Academic Press for publication on behalf of the Editorial Board. There will be an official announcement of the journal at the IOTS meeting this summer, with the first issue appearing in January of 1999. Submissions are now invited. The Syriac Symposium III&emdash;The Aramaic Heritage of Syria will be held June 17-20, 1999 at the University of Notre Dame. Papers are invited on all aspects of Syriac Christianity, Syriac, and relationships with other cultural and religious groups. Paper titles with a 250-word abstract are due by October 1, 1998.
